Yet another Shimmer Polish mani today! This swatch is for Vivian, a “Dusty Rose Pink Mixture with Grays and Black Glitter Polish.” These polishes are so easy to work with—just pair with a complementary color and you have a no-brainer mani.
Here I’ve used L’Oreal Penthouse Pink on the other fingers, while my middle and ring fingers have three thick coats of just Shimmer Vivian.
If you dread working with glitter-packed polish because of the difficult removal, there’s a very easy way to do it. Check out this tutorial. The only change I’d make is that you don’t need a full cotton ball or pad. Rip apart the cotton ball so that there’s just enough covering your nail. That’s all you need. Easy, easy.
Thanks for reading. Have a good week!
I’d never used striping tape before, so I thought I’d give it a whirl, using Zoya Dove and China Glaze Manhunt. Zoya Dove is exactly what it sounds like, a really beautiful light gray. And China Glaze Manhunt has been my go-to dark blue forever. It’s so pigmented and pretty.
I painted first with Dove, let it dry completely, then marked off random sections of nail with striping tape from Born Pretty and painted those sections with Manhunt. The trick is removing the tape right away so that you get a clean line. Then I waited again for the blue to dry so that I wouldn’t smear the colors together, and I applied my new fast-drying top coat Nubar Diamant Seal and Shine Top Coat.
Definitely on my to-do list! Simple designs are often the best.
Bennie the basset likes to sleep with his head resting on my feet so that he knows when I get up and leave the room. Naturally, I try to give him pretty feet to sleep on. These are Rimmel Stiletto Red.
It’s finally fall here in the Midwest! I celebrated with this fall-themed mani, inspired by The Polished Perfectionist’s mani from last year. I applied one coat of a basic dark brown polish on my thumb and ring finger. Then I applied two coats of Cirque French Roast. On my other fingers I applied three coats of Sinful Colors Exotic Green, then dabbed on French Roast using a sponge. This sucker required MANY top coats. I stopped at three but it could have used more for extra shine.
Green fading to brown—very autumnal, right? Happy Monday!
The reason I first got interested in nail art was this mani from The Nailasaurus. I thought it was so beautiful, and that I’d never be able to do anything like that. I’m finally trying the gradient that has intimidated me so much. Good news is, it was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be. Time consuming, but not difficult.
I started by painting two thick coats of L’Oreal Violet Vixen. Then I sponged a dense layer of Cult Nails Vicious (sold out, similar color from Zoya here) on the tips of my nails. Then I went back after it had mostly dried, and sponged a combination of both colors right in the middle of the nails so that they blended.
Pretty, right? Have a good start to your week!
